Frequently Asked Questions

Here are some frequently asked questions at the Swiss Hotel to answer some of the things at the top of your mind when booking or staying with us.

How do I make a reservation?

It’s easy! The best way to reserve with us is directly through our website by clicking “BOOK NOW”. In fact, it’s also where you’ll find the best offers. It’s secure and gives you instant confirmation – all you need is a valid credit card. Feel free to give us a call at the Reception at +1 613-237-0335 or email us if you have any questions.

Are there any additional fees above the nightly rate?

A 4% Municipal Accommodation Tax (MAT) and 13% Harmonized Sales Tax is not included in the nightly rate and will be added to your reservation.

What do I need for check-in?

In order to check-in, we require the credit card used to book the reservation presented by the cardholder, along with matching government-issued photo ID.

Can I still come in and out after the Reception closes at 10:00 pm?

Yes, of course! All guests are provided with time-activated key cards to enter the building and their room at any time during their stay.

How do I enter the building?

Our entrance is located on 89 Daly Avenue. Since our reception is one floor down, we control access to the building by keeping the front door locked at all times. In order to check-in, please ring the intercom to be let in. Once you’ve checked in, guests can use their key cards to enter the building at any time during their stay. At night, we also keep the first door locked. Please be sure to let us know if you intend on checking-in after 10:00 pm.

Do you serve breakfast?

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we are no longer serving breakfast. However, there are a number of restaurants within walking distance where you can enjoy your breakfast.

Do you have a restaurant?

We don’t have a restaurant on the premises. Luckily, we are located just steps away from the Byward Market, where you can find hundreds of restaurants covering a range of cuisines and styles.

Do you have parking?

This is one of our most frequently asked questions at the Swiss Hotel! Given our central location downtown, we have a very limited number of parking spots available onsite. As a result, we’re only able to offer parking on a first come first served basis (with no in-and-out privileges). Our daily rate is $20/day + HST. Alternatively, there are a number of large paid parking lots within the vicinity of our hotel as well as limited street parking on Daly Avenue. Please note that the Swiss Hotel is not responsible for the security of your vehicle or belongings left within. We recommend that you remove all valuables from your vehicle prior to parking.

Do you have a meeting room?

We have a meeting space that can accommodate up to 12 persons for small gatherings. Please contact us for more information, daily rates and availability.

What accommodations can the Swiss Hotel make for individuals with allergies?

If you have any medical, allergic or any other problem that might affect your stay, please inform us upon making a reservation. We will do our best to accommodate you (e.g., with hypo-allergenic duvets and pillows).

Can I bring my pets?

Pets are not allowed in our guest rooms and hotel public areas, with the exception of registered service animals. Non-compliance will result in a $200.00 CAN cleaning fee and dismissal from our property.

Do you have an elevator?

The Swiss Hotel is set in a 19th century historic stone building, and unfortunately, we are not able to accommodate an elevator. Our rooms are spread across three floors, in addition to the ground floor, where our reception is located. Please contact us prior to making a reservation if you have any mobility concerns.

Is smoking allowed?

For the comfort of all our guests, smoking of all kinds is strictly prohibited in our rooms and throughout the building. Those who do not respect this policy will be asked to leave the property and will be charged a $350.00 cleaning fee.

How many people can stay in one room?

The maximum occupancy for our rooms is two people. All of our guests must be registered with the Reception and additional visitors are not permitted. Please note that all guests must be over the age of 18 years old to stay at the Swiss Hotel.

Do you accept children?

The Swiss Hotel has an adults-only policy. To help us create an atmosphere of relaxation and ensure that our guests get the rest they need, only guests of 18 years and older are permitted to stay at the hotel.

I left something in my room. How can I retrieve it?

The hotel will make every effort to retrieve and hold any items accidentally left behind for up to 30 days. Thereafter, if the item remains unclaimed, we will donate it to goodwill. Guests are responsible for all shipping-related costs for the return of lost and found items.

Can I leave my luggage with you?

Guests are welcome to leave their luggage with us at Reception for up to 24 hours prior to check-in or after check-out.  Please note, the hotel is not liable for the theft, loss, damage or destruction of the property.

Do you offer daily housekeeping?

Generally, we offer provide daily housekeeping between the hours of 10:00 am and 2:00 pm. However, during the COVID-19 pandemic, we endeavour to limit our interaction with guests, and are not performing daily service in the rooms. Guests can request extra toiletries and towels by calling us at the Reception and we will be happy to provide you with a top-up. For extended stays, we can schedule service when guests are not in the room.

I’d like to do something special for my partner. Can I spread rose petals across the bed?

While we fully endorse a bit of romantic flare, we ask that our guests refrain from spreading real rose petals or confetti across our rooms, as they often cause staining on our premium white sheets and can be very difficult to clean. Any type of loss or damage to items in the room or any public space will result in a charge that will be at the discretion of management.
